The present site is intended as a contribution toward the study of Pārsīg (also called Pahlavi, Aryan, Middle Persian) as a living language for those who require an adequate but concise presentation of the language, with examples, which would bring them as quickly as possible to the point where they could start the reading of Pārsīg texts with profit.

From the Hymn of the Pearl

In the apocryphal Acts of Judas Thomas the Apostle is to be found the beautiful Hymn of the Pearl. This old Syriac poem not only contains Parthian loan-words, uses symbolism drawn from the circumstances of the Parthian kingdom, but also has demonstrably a Parthian predecessor. The poem is about a boy, "the son of the king of kings", who is sent from his homeland, the Levant, that is Parthia, to Egypt, that is Occident, to retrieve a pearl that lies in the Sea from the loud-breathing Serpent. During the quest, he is seduced by Egyptians and forgets his origin and his family. However, a letter is sent from the king of kings to remind him of his past. When the boy receives the letter, he remembers his mission, retrieves the pearl and returns. Here is the letter (in Pārsīg), 38-48:

vāspuhr ī ēr, kē andar nēmrōz ī frānsag, tarsāgān ped yōšdahrīh grāmīg hamē dārend, “abdon” nām ast. vicašmag-aš hameē vēned.

I would like to join you from Afghanistan

Dear friends, I am pleased to meet your beautiful and rich website. I am from Afghanistan. My native language is Persian (=Parsi=Farsi). As you also know, this is modern Persian, and comes from Parsig(=Pahlavi or middle persian). Parsig is the middle persian, and my native language, has branched from one of its dialects. Dear friends, I have done some pieces of works in reviving pure persian(without Arabic loan words), and have said many poetry in pure persian. I strongly would like to purify and strenghthen my language using the vocabulary and structure of middle persian(Parsig). When I read your website, i also notices and found out that: It is possible to revive the Parsig: the language of a glorious civilization, the language of kings of the kings, the language of science and brotherhood!, Before that:I some times thought with myself about revival of parsig, but, I thought, that i might be alone. but, when now i find you here, i am assured that: there are many good people still alive and stuggling for revival of a beautiful and historical language. I confirm what W.B.Henning had said: Parsig is the Latin Language of Asia. So, Let us start reviving it. I especially thanks to my European friends(You friends) whom are suffering and acceping the troubles but still are helpin us reviving our ancient language. I call you my brothers. Please accept my friendly, and brotherly regards
